Elbow Position
Role of the Elbow
Your elbow should move naturally with your fingers, hand, and forearm to allow smooth movement across the piano. There’s no set position for the elbow; it should stay flexible and adjust to your playing needs.
Common Mistakes and Issues
One common mistake is holding the elbow in a fixed position, either too high or too low. This can lead to tension in the upper arm, neck, shoulders, and even the upper back.
Another common mistake is twisting the elbow outwards. The elbow should remain in a natural, relaxed position, aligned with the hand and forearm.

Some beginners also pull their elbows too close to their body, causing tension and limiting movement.

Proper Elbow Alignment
The elbow should stay relaxed, not lifted or dropped. It should feel neutral, with the forearm leading the motion. Make sure it doesn’t twist or pull in too much, keeping it aligned for better control and comfort.
