9. Pickup Notes Integration
What Will You Learn in This Lesson?
We’re circling back to pick-up notes.
In Lesson 3, you practiced pickups in isolation.
Now, you’ll integrate all of them into a short 4-bar phrase.
You can complete this lesson in two ways:
1. Compose your own melody.
Exercises 1 and 2 give you the rhythm patterns, but not the notes.

Your task is to write melodies for those rhythms using only the A minor blues scale,
and accompany them with all three left-hand grooves from this module.

2. Learn my version.
If composing your own exercise feels time-consuming or overwhelming, no problem.
Just use my examples and play along with them:
Ex. 1.1, 1.2, 1.3,
Ex. 2.1, 2.2, 2.3.
When Are You Done With This Lesson?
When you can play smoothly through every variation – composed or copied – with all three left-hand grooves,
you’re done. ❤
Move on to the next lesson.
