49. Improvising with the Last Two Notes
What Will You Learn in This Lesson?
In this lesson, you’ll learn to improvise by choosing two notes at the end of bar 4.
How to Practice Effectively:
Step 1: Look at the two quarter rest signs at the end of bar 4. This is where your two improvised notes will go.

Step 2: You can choose from five notes: A, B, C, D, or E.

Step 3: Try different combinations for the last two notes.

Listen carefully: Which version sounds nicer to you? Which one feels easier under your fingers?
Step 4: Later in the lesson, the sheet music will change.

This means you’ll now improvise a half note + quarter note instead of two quarters.
Step 5: Start by practicing on the piano alone, keeping a steady, slow tempo.
Step 6: When this feels comfortable, try playing along with the backing track in the second part of the video.
When Are You Done With This Lesson?
You’re done with this lesson when you can improvise on your own and with the backing track while keeping a steady beat.
