Day 30 – Play & Rest Approach (Part 2)
Play 2 Bars – Rest 2 Bars
Exercise 1: Be strict—fill the bars completely when you play, and during rest periods, truly rest without playing over the lines. (Level 1)
Exercise 2: You’re allowed to play pickup notes during the rest period. (Level 2)
Exercise 3: Start breaking the rules. You don’t have to be strict with the 2 bars playing and resting period, just keep the general idea.
Optional exercises include:
Play 3 bars – Rest 3 bars
Play 3 bars – Rest 2 bars
The goal is to develop a healthy balance between playing and resting with these exercises, and once achieved, you ready for the next lesson.
“Congratulations! This marks the end of our 30-day challenge. If you set New Year’s resolutions about consistent and deliberate piano practice, I hope this challenge has helped you build momentum towards those goals. Of course, this is just the beginning of a beautiful journey into the world of jazz, but now you have a strong foundation. This foundation will help you feel confident as you start incorporating new elements into your improvisation.
See you in the next module! <3
